- First arrangement is to be done for the vehicle that will carry your goods. For truck services, contact any reliable transport company/ Truck Company or reserve a rental truck.
- Parking near your residence should be easily accessible for your mover. Do whatever you can to reserve parking for your moving truck; reserve spaces with your car, a friend's car, or saw horses.
- Confirm your moving date and time with your mover one or two weeks in advance. Advise them of potential problems, elevator times, and special needs such as clothing wardrobes, extra cartons, last minute packing, etc.
- Before preceding, check the rules & regulations, laws and requirements of your new destination/ city in case you require home-based businesses, professional tests, business licenses and any special laws to continue the work without any trouble.
- All the utility services must be arranged to new address/ destination. The services at current address must be discontinued just after your departure by the help of some known person/ relative. You must inform electric, disposal, water, newspaper, magazine subscription, telephone and cable companies about your move.
- Inventory is must for your household goods or commercial goods before packing of the goods, in case you need to claim insurance for your goods later. If it’s possible, take pictures or video recording of all your goods. Have a written record of all the electronic equipments serial numbers.
- If you or your family members are having memberships in some clubs, pubs, civic organizations, church or related religious organizations, transfer the membership to the new destination if such facilities available or else discontinue these services.
- Close bank accounts and have your funds wired to your new bank. Before closing, be sure there are no outstanding checks or automatic payments that haven't been processed. It will help you whenever you need finance.
- You must carry important documents, cash and jewelry with yourself or alternatively use registered mail & it must be used only for documents & such items and not for jewellery & cash.
- Carefully tape and place in individual waterproof bags any jars of liquid you plan to take with you.
- Give a close friend or relative your 'travel route and schedule' so that you may reach there if required.
- You must double check all drawers, shelves, closets and garage to make sure they are empty to avoid any misuse of your goods & safety as well.
- Check with your insurance agent to ensure you'll be covered through your homeowner's or renter's policy during the move.
